FAQ

What equipment does my child need to play at Wexford-Agincourt Baseball League?

Every player needs to have their own running shoes or baseball cleats, batting helmet with chin strap, baseball glove, bat and athletic support (cup). We provide full uniforms (pants, jerseys, hats and socks), baseballs, and catcher’s equipment. Don’t worry about uniform sizing, we work that all out with you at the park during uniform days!

My child has never played baseball, can we still register?

Absolutely! All of our House league programs, from 6U to 18U, encourage players of all playing levels to participate. We focus on teaching players to develop their basic skills of catching, throwing, hitting and base running.

Wait, what does House league mean?

House league is open to all players who want to play baseball regardless of their skill level. It’s a non-competitive environment where players are encouraged to try every position and are given equal playing time. Players who want to play more competitive baseball can try out for one of our Select teams while also playing on a House league team.

How does my player try out for Select?

Dates and times for Select team tryouts are posted on the website in the fall.

How do I know which level my player(s) should be in?

Divisions are based on player age. 6U, for example, means 6 years old and under. When online registration is open, divisions also list birth years.

How often will we play?

All divisions play two games and/or practices a week.
– 6U plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays
– 9U plays on Mondays and Wednesdays
– 11U plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays
– 13U plays on Mondays and Wednesdays
– 15U plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays
– 18U plays twice per week on any day Monday to Friday

Where are the games?

Wishing Well Park at Highway 401 and Pharmacy Ave. is our home park. Many of our games are played there. We also play at a number of other diamonds in Scarborough. See park maps for details.

I heard about a concussion code of conduct that all parents have to review and sign, what is that?

Under Rowan’s Law, before any player can be registered, the player, and the parent or legal guardian of the player, if the player is under 18 years of age, must review Concussion Education Resources provided by the Province of Ontario and acknowledge it has been reviewed by signing the waiver. Read more about Rowan’s Law and view the resources.

I want to be a coach, how do I sign up?

That’s great! We are always looking for volunteer coaches to coach our budding baseball stars. To volunteer, simply let us know on your child’s registration form and we’ll be in touch. Or email info@wexfordbaseball.com

I want to be an umpire, how do I sign up?

That’s great! We are always looking for umpires to join our league! For more information, please visit our Umpire FAQ page.

What are baseball ambassadors?

We’re glad you asked! Baseball ambassadors are our student volunteers who love baseball and want to help our younger players learn and grow to love the game as much as they do. Baseball ambassadors can use the time they spend helping at the park towards their high school volunteer hours. Contact president@wexfordbaseball.com to find out more or to sign up.
